Frequently Asked Questions
What are your areas of expertise?
I have expertise in various creative and technical domains, including Innovation, UX, UI, User Research, Interaction Design, Agile processes, and Information Architecture. On top of that I have wide experience in Customer Service, Administration, and process improvements. These last ones significantly enhance my perspective and approach in the user experience field.
What would you say is your design process?
In an ideal scenario, my design process is as follows:

- Research: internal research, user research, external research (competitive research - benchmark). The range here can be extensive depending on the scope, budget, internal resources of the company, deadline, and more.
- Design exploration: make different variations of the design solution and review it with stakeholders.
- Iteration: Once one of the designs is developed or prototyped, review options and conclude to decide if we keep it, or research again for improvements, etc. This also depends on many other factors: budget, existing resources within the company, and timeline, among others.

That said, this process can vary according to the kind of company, specific project, business goals, etc...I always try to follow my design process, but if it is not possible, I adapt it to get the most optimal results with the existing constraints.
What analytics tools and KPIs do you use?
To obtain useful metrics, a combination of qualitative and quantitative data is required (or highly recommended) using several tools. For quantitative research, I use tools like Google Analytics and Hotjar to measure user performance. However, understanding the underlying reasons ("Why") requires qualitative Research through methodologies such as usability testing, one-on-one interviews, the System Usability Scale (SUS test), and more.
On the other hand, the specific Key performance indicators (KPIs) are determined by the product team, aligning with the business goals of each project.
Who are your design heroes and favorite apps?
One of my biggest reference is David Travis. A psychologist specialist in user experience strategy that started his career in this field 30 years ago. His experience and knowledge about research and user experience is a goldmine. His book "Think like a UX Researcher" keeps me inspired any time I review it. Additionally, I value the innovative and humanistic approach of Don Norman, renowned for his design books, and Jakob Nielsen, particularly for his work in setting the Usability Heuristics.
Regarding apps I would mention Spotify, Youtube, Uber, and Netflix. Their user experience is so polished, that I am not surprise that millions of users are really hooked to them.
“I don’t like this design,” so what do you do?
Certain client feedback may be driven by strategic business considerations, such as the belief that a too simplistic solution could overlooks revenue opportunities. After listen their feedback carefully, I try to ask them further questions to see if there is any underlying reason that would help me learn as much as I can about their point of view.
Once all the feedback look clear, I incorporate it into the next iteration, understanding that arriving at the optimal design is a balancing act between business needs, technical feasibility, and the designer’s desire to create the best product design.
How do you face accessibility?
User research methodologies and especially user testing become remarkably important to this matter. Any digital product should be simple enough to facilitate a clear user task, and innovative approaches should be used to ensure any user can interact with the product. And I am not referring to users with disabilities only, I refer also to some specific user groups with particular needs due to age, cultural background, environment, context, etc...
Some examples could include using voiceover commands to navigate websites and apps, adding captions to a video, making content easier to read by screen readers, or designing an option to use larger typographies.
Are you a freelancer or are you looking for a role?
I am open to either of the two modalities. The important thing is to find an exciting project/company to match with to add value to the product and continue growing by learning.
I am especially interested in projects with a positive social impact, music industry positions, and any project that involves animal care. But of course, I will be happy to hear any other proposal.
Are you available for relocation?
I am based in Valencia, Spain, and most of my previous jobs have been remote. However, I would be happy to relocate depending on the nature of the project.
